Review: Ipsy April Glam Bag: Beautifully Bohemian

Spring is in the air! Here’s my review of the items I received in my April Ipsy Glam Bag. In my review, I’ve included the product, the benefits (as claimed by the product), the size I received and the value compared to the normal retail size and price. Ipsy often includes a discount if you decide to purchase the retail product – I’ve included that info as well (offers are for a limited time). Keep in mind that Ipsy Glam Bags vary by person. What you receive is based on the profile you established. This month’s theme is Beautifully Bohemian and includes a cute cosmetic bag that reflects a spring and earthy feel.

My thoughts: The last Hey Honey product I tried, the peel off mask, I loved (once I figured out how to use it). I’m always looking for a good skincare product. I like that this one can be used day or night and claims to work great as a makeup primer. It smells great (just like the mask). I look forward to trying this product and will let you know what I think about it.  Here is a link to my post about the Hey Honey Peel Off Mask in case you are interested.

fileAsset3theBalm Cosmetics NUDE Dude Eyeshadow Single (Fit)

My thoughts: I’m real picky when it comes to eyeshadow. I like ones that are true to their color and stay on throughout the day. I often find a color I really like only to be disappointed when I apply it and it looks completely different. My favorite eyeshadow brands are MAC, Urban Decay and Sephora – they tend to never disappoint me. I’ve never tried theBalm (never heard of this brand until now). I like the color I received, Fit, which is described as a shimmering cooper. I’m definitely going to give it a try.

fileAsset2Aromachology Sophisticated & Sensual Floral Eau de Parfum
Benefits: made fresh in small batch production with a 20% higher oil load; designed for layering; can create costume blends
Ipsy Size: 5 mL (retail size 10 mL for $40.00)
Ipsy Value: ~$20.00

My thoughts: This is a nice size sample and is in a roll-on container. I love perfume samples as they give me an opportunity to try new scents before I buy. I have a really hard time finding fragrances with staying power. I like a fragrance that is not too strong (where people have to stand 3 feet away in order to breathe) but will garner the occasional “you smell great” when you greet a friend with a hug. I tend to wear only one or two fragrances – Channel Mademoiselle (my current go-to), Christian Dior’s Dune and Borghese’s Il Bacio (do they even make the last two?). However, I’m always willing to give a new fragrance a try. This one smells good so I look forward to trying it. I also like that I can easily throw it in my purse.

fileAssetStarlooks Satin Finish Lip Gloss (Cuddle)
Benefits: moisturizing, non-sticky, long-lasting gloss
Ipsy Size: 0.03 oz (retail size: 0.14 oz at $13.00)
Ipsy Value: ~$2.79
Ipsy Deal: 20% off Starlooks Lip Gloss at
My thoughts: I’m not a big lip gloss fan. I talk a lot and drink a lot of beverages throughout the day. I need a lip product that doesn’t need to be reapplied multiple times per day. This product will probably go to my 14 year-old daughter. If not, I might use it over my long-lasting lip color to give it a little shine.

fileAsset5JulieG Nail Color (Damsel)
Benefits: highly pigmented; no chip
Ipsy Size: 0.35 oz (full retail size)
Ipsy Value: $3.99
Ipsy Deal: 20% off any purchase at
My thoughts: This color, described as a mid-tone pink creme, is pretty bright. For me, it would be too bright for a finger nail color (unless I was going to an 80’s themed party). It would make for a fun color for the toes – especially in the summer. I’m definitely going to give it a try on my toes. If it is no chip like they claim, I will check out the other colors they offer for a more appropriate finger nail color.

Estimated Ipsy Glam Bag Value: $43.45

Well, there’s my take on my April Ipsy Glam Bag. I’d love to hear your thoughts on any of the products above. I’m going to try to do a better job of posting a follow-up on all the products I try.

Until next time, stay beautiful! ~ Devon
