Review: March Ipsy Glam Bag

IMG_0457March’s glam bag features products for the eyes, lips and cheeks, as well as some skincare.

In my review, I’ve included the product, the benefits (as claimed by the product), the size I received and the value compared to the normal retail size and price. Often, a discount is available if you decide to purchase the retail product – I’ve included that info as well (offers are for a limited time). Keep in mind that Ipsy Glam Bags vary by person. What you receive is based on the profile you established. Here’s my review of the products I received in my December Ispy Glam Bag.

SkoneEyelinerSkone Cosmetics Insanely Intense Tattooed Eyeliner in Jet Black
Stated Benefits: bold, long-lasting color, easy to use, waterproof, smudge proof, won’t run or feather.
Ipsy Value: Full size product = $15.00
Ipsy Discount: 10% Off Any Purchase from
My thoughts:  I’m always looking for a smudge proof, long-lasting, waterproof eyeliner. I’m pretty happy with my current eyeliner, Sephora waterproof, but was excited to see this eyeliner in my Glam Bag. I haven’t had a chance to use it on my eyes yet, but I did test it on my hand.  After making a 1/2 half-inch line on the top of my hand, I waited about 3o seconds (giving it a little time to dry). I then attempted to smear it, smudge it and rub it off…nothing! Line stayed perfect – it did not smear, smudge or rub off at all. I even added a little water to it and tried to rub it off – nothing. I can’t wait to see how this works on my eyes…I’ll let you know.

MasksGlobal Beauty Care Collagen Spa Treatment Mask
Stated Benefits: Lifts, firms and tones skin, moisture-rich formula, minimized appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and crow’s-feet.
Ipsy Value: 2 masks = $4.00 (regular price: 5 masks for $9.99)
Ipsy Discount: none
My Thoughts: I love masks and scrubs so I’m always excited when I get one in my Glam Bag. This one appears to be a cloth type mask that is placed on the face for around 20 minutes. I’m not a huge fan of “cloth” type masks, I prefer wash off or peel off, but am always willing to give it a try.

oilDHC Deep Cleansing Oil
Stated Benefits: dissolves all traces of dirt, impurities and cosmetics – even works on waterproof mascara and eyeliner, hydrating, water-soluble, no greasy residue
Ipsy Value: 1.4 oz = $5.17 (regular price: 3 mini bottles for $15.50)
Ipsy Discount: none
My Thoughts: As someone who wears mostly waterproof/water-resistant makeup, this product intrigues me. I’ve never used an oil cleanser. It doesn’t really have an odor, which is a good thing. I haven’t used it on my face yet but…remember the Skone waterproof, smudge proof, smear proof eyeliner noted above? Remember how I mentioned that it did have staying power and that I couldn’t remove it with water? Well, I was able to remove it with the DHC Deep Cleansing Oil. And, it didn’t leave my hand greasy. In fact, it left my hand really soft and smooth. Stay tuned for a video demonstrating the staying power of the Skone Insanely Intense Tattooed Eyeliner and the removal power of the DHC Deep Cleansing Oil.

NYX Cosmetics Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Kitten Heels
Stated Benefits: waterproof, super pigmented, matte finish, long-wearing, infused with avocado oil and Vitamin E
Ipsy Value: full size = $7.00
Ipsy Discount: 40% Off 1 NYX Be Gone! Lip Remover
My Thoughts: This lipstick is in a lip gloss type of tube, but is definitely thicker than a lip gloss. It appears to go on pretty matte and is really red. It will be interesting to see when I actually apply it to my lips, how intense the color is – and how well it stays on.

blushMellow Cosmetics Powder Blush in Bronze
Stated Benefits: sheer brush powder, leaves silky finish, buildable coverage, cruelty-free, paraben-free, vegan
Ipsy Value: full size = $10.00
Ipsy Discount: 15% Off Any Purchases + Free Shipping on orders $40+
My Thoughts: I would classify this color as more of a peach shade than a bronze. It’s pretty light and has a matte finish.  On days that I go light makeup, I prefer to wear a blush that adds just a hint of color but not too much. This blush may just do the job.

This month’s Ipsy Value: ~ $41.17

I look forward to giving these products a try! Until next time, stay beautiful! ~ Devon
