Review: July’s Ipsy Glam Bag

My June Glam Bag (yes, I know this post is really late) arrived in a fun, beach themed cosmetic bag, featuring a moisturizer, primer, makeup brush, eyeshadow and lipliner.

In my review, I’ve included the product, the benefits (as claimed by the product), the size I received and the value compared to the normal retail size and price. Often, a discount is available if you decide to purchase the retail product – I’ve included that info as well (offers are for a limited time). Keep in mind that Ipsy Glam Bags vary by person. What you receive is based on the profile you established. Here’s my review of the products I received in my December Ispy Glam Bag.

eyeshadowtheBalm Cosmetics – Meet Matt(e) Trimony Eyeshadow in Matt Kumar
Stated Benefits: ultra-matte, smooth, tripled milled, easy to blend
Ipsy Value:  ~ $4.67 (sold as a 9 shade palette for $42)
Ipsy Discount: 20% off any purchases at
My thoughts:  There were two versions of eyeshadow, Matt Kumar and Matt Moskowitz. Matt Kumar, the one I received, is a matte cranberry shade – which has a little too much red in it for me. I would have preferred the Matt Moskowitz, a matte plum shade. Ipsy often sends me shades that have a reddish tint to them, so I went back into my profile and adjusted some of my preferences.

Too Faced – HangoverRX Replenishing Face Primer
Stated Benefits: helps makeup stay on longer, makes skin look refreshed, can be used as a moisturizer
Ipsy Value: ~ $3.46 (full size/$32 for 1.35 oz)
Ipsy Discount: 20% off + free shipping at
My Thoughts: I always try to use a make-up primer. My favorite is Smashbox Photo Finish, but I’ll definitely give this one a try.

OFRA Cosmetics – Lip Liner in Silk
Stated Benefits: long-lasting, waterproof, drink proof, made with synthetic beeswax for a smooth application
Ipsy Value: $13 (full size)
Ipsy Discount: 30% off any purchase at
My Thoughts: This color is described as a ballet slipper shade. It’s a little lighter than I would normally wear, but may be great for my “summer time” shades of lipstick. The other color that came with some Glam Bags was Maya, a brick-red shade. I would have preferred that shade, but it’s nice to have some variety in my make-up toolkit.

Embryolisse – Lait-Creme Concentre multi-funtion mourishing moisturizer
Stated Benefits: good for all skin types including sensitive skin, helps keep makeup in place longer, helps boost tired and dehydrated skin
Ipsy Value: .25 fl oz = ~ $4.60  (vs. full size 2.6 fl oz at $26)
Ipsy Discount: 20%  any purchase at
My Thoughts: I’m not committed to a particular brand of moisturizer, so I love getting a moisturizer in my Glam Bag. They’re especially great for traveling.

Vasanti Cosmetics – Professional Contour Brush
Stated Benefits: high-quality nylon bristles, can be used wet or dry
Ipsy Value:  $21 (full size)
Ipsy Discount: 30% off any purchase at
My Thoughts: Good makeup brushes make all the difference. I like that this one can be used wet or dry.

This month’s Ipsy Value: ~ $46+

Until next time, stay beautiful! ~Devon
