Here’s a list of the products currently in my “beauty bag” (aka the products I wear everyday)
Foundation: Estee Lauder Double Wear – Rattan
What I love about it: I have used this make-up for many years. I have tried other foundations but always go back to Double Wear. The foundation provides good coverage but can be used as light coverage if applied correctly. It also contains an SPF. However, the thing I love most about it is that it holds up spectacular in the humid Florida weather. I apply it in the early morning hours and it still appears flawless late into the evening. At almost $43 a bottle, it is one of my most expensive make-up products. However, it does last a long time and I only have to purchase it 2-3 times per year.
Concealer: Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer – Light
What I love about it: It covers very well and stays in place. Tarte recently changed this from a tube to a wand. I’m not a big fan of wand concealers, but I use the wand to place the product on my finger and then apply it (like I did when it was in a tube). I allow it to sit for a few minutes before I blend it in. I’m still searching for the “perfect” under eye concealer, but this one is pretty good.
Setting Powder: NARS Light Reflecting Loose Setting Powder – Translucent Crystal
What I love about it: This powder is a light reflecting powders which means no flashback in photos. It’s sets my foundation well and does not appear blotchy or cakey.
Bronzer: Benefit Hoola Matte Bronzing Powder
What I love about it: I use this bronzing powder to contour below my check bone and my temples to my forehead.
Blush: MAC – Mineralize Blush – Love Joy
What I love about it: When I do decide to add a little blush to the apples of my cheeks, I use MAC. It goes on nicely and stays on throughout the day.
Highlighter: OFRA Highlighter – Star Island
What I love about it: I had never thought about doing the contour/highlighter thing until about a year ago. It seemed to be the “thing” to do, so I though why not give it a try. Although I’m not as adventurous as some beauties, I really like the slight difference it made. I contour my cheek bones and temple forehead area with a bronzer (see above) and add this highlighter to the tip of my nose, the “bowtie” area above my top lip/below the nose, along the top of my check bones and a little in the middle forehead down the top part of the bridge of my nose (between my eyebrows). I sweep a powder brush over my entire face to help blend everything together for the final look. I’ve tried several highlighters and really like this one from OFRA. It adds a hint of shimmer without looking too glittery or frosty.
Eye Shadow Primer: Urban Decay Potion – Sin
What I love about it: If someone asked me what one makeup product I would want if stranded on a deserted island, this would probably be it. I absolutely love this product. It not only serves as a great eyeshadow base but also a great eyeshadow base color. You could use a 99 cent drugstore eyeshadow and it would look good with this primer. Don’t let the cost fool you. Although it seems expensive ($20), one tube last me an entire year – and I wear it almost daily.
Eye Shadow: Urban Decay – Chopper, Twice Baked, Blackout
What I love about them: I love Urban Decay eyeshadow (and primer – see above). I use Twice Baked, a brown with bronze flakes shade, (middle) on my lid. I use Blackout, a deep black shade, (right) in the corner and along the crease from the middle to the corner. After I apply my eyeliner, I add Chopper, a bronze shade, (left) from the inner corner to the middle of my lid. This softens the eyeliner and adds some highlight to the inner portion of the lid. I blend well to ensure their is a seamless transition from the bronze to the black.
Eye Liner – IT – Superhero Liner – Black (top lid) and IT -No-Tug Waterproof Anti-Aging Gel Eyeliner – Black (lower lash line)
What I love about these: I use the Superhero eyeliner on the top of my lid only. With a liquid liner feel (it has a felt tip), it glides on easy and has great staying power. I use the no-tug eyeliner on my lower lash line only. I prefer this liner on my lower lash line versus the Superhero because it provides a softer line. The eyeliner goes on very well and has great staying power. I very seldom find myself dealing with raccoon eyes even after a long day at the office.
Mascara: Benefit – They’re Real – Tinted Lash Primer & Mascara (Black)
What I love about these:I need a mascara that will thicken and lengthen my lashes, but also stay on and not “run for the hills” as the day goes on. Benefit’s They’re Real! is my favorite out of all their mascaras. I recently added the tinted lash primer to my routine to help thicken and lengthen. The primer is a deep brown and could be worn alone if you prefer a more natural look.
Lip Liner: Revlon Colorstay – Chocolate
What I love about it: This lipliner goes on easy and stays on all day long. Combined with the lipstick I use, I seldom need to re-touch my lipstick.
Lipstick: Morphe Lip Crayon – TLC (rose nude), IRL (nude pink), FOMO (toasted mauve) and Morphe (signature red)
What I love about it: I am very picky about my lipsticks. I need one that stays put all day. However, most of those types of lipstick are extremely drying and crack my lips. I used a drugstore brand forever until I received a Morphe lip crayon in my Ipsy Glam bag one month. I love lip crayons, however, I had not found one that had the staying power I needed. But, I decided to give it a try…and I loved it! The Morphe lip crayon glides on easily, yet stays on throughout the day (without drying my lips out). The only negative is that I have to order it online. Even though Ulta sells Morphe in their stores, they do not carry the lip crayon (at least not in my local store). At $9, the Morphe lip crayon is also a great deal (I was paying more than that for the drugstore brand). Note: I apply foundation to my lips before I apply my lip liner, which line and slightly fill in my lips with. These steps helps lipstick stay on better.
